THE FARMAVET GROUP CONTINUES ITS TRANSFORMATION IN 2021, WITH A COMPLETE MANAGEMENT TEAM
A Successful Business Always Begins with People
Having been in the midst of a transformative process since September of 2019, from the takeover of the majority stake by China Central and Eastern Europe Investment Co-operation Fund II, the Farmavet Group is a benchmark for the veterinary industry in Romania, incorporating the production of vaccines, medicinal products (through Pasteur Filiala Filipești) and nutritive mixes (through FNC Nutriție Pietroiu) alongside their marketing (through Farmavet), both through the Distribution Division, with national coverage of the regional warehouses in the large cities across the country, and through the Retail Division, with a network of over 170 veterinary pharmacies.
In addition to the growing results, with a turnover development of +20% compared to the previous year, the Farmavet Group started 2021 with a new business model, a complete management team and a reorganized activity, ready to grow and adapt to the new requirements of the domestic and international markets.
In this issue we will meet the three key players of the business divisions who are part of the Group’s top management team.
Adrian Mitrea is a graduate of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies and his professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry began in 2000, with his eight-year employment with A&D Pharma, during which time he worked his way up from Purchasing Officer to Supply Chain Expert & ERP Business Stream Coordinator. Over time, he even worked for Farmavet for a short while, and then for Catena, Actavis (Allergan), Europharm Distributie SA and, since January of 2021, he has once again been part of the Farmavet team.
“My story within Farmavet started many years ago when I discovered that, in addition to the human pharmaceutical market, the veterinary market harbored a vast potential. By far, in my opinion, the key to Farmavet achieving success is the team, having determined and proactive colleagues,
with the right attitude. I am convinced that my professional experience so far will contribute to the team’s success, but the major difference will come from the harmonization of the resources, especially human resources.”
Adrian Mitrea is a top manager focused on understanding the market needs. His role within Farmavet is to strengthen the position of the Distribution Division among the top players in the pharmaceutical industry, both in terms of the national coverage, and in terms of the quality of the services and the range of products marketed. With the help of the teams coordinated by him (Sales, Trade Marketing, Product Procurement, Planning, Storage and Transportation), Adrian Mitrea incorporates customers’ needs alongside the company’s supply capabilities and in-house and third-party products.
COSTIN GHEORGHIU
A graduate of the Spiru Haret University of Bucharest and the holder of several professional certificates obtained both in the country and abroad, Costin Gheorghiu has almost 20 years’ experience in retail. He started with McDonalds as a Floor Manager, and then climbed the career ladder within companies such as JW Marriott (Store Manager), Starbucks Romania (Store Manager and Retail District Manager), World Class Romania (Grab&Go Project Manager), and, in October of 2019, he joined the large Farmavet team.
“The veterinary pharmaceutical industry was a challenge which I gladly accepted when I joined Farmavet. My main goal was to thoroughly understand the industry and to raise the standards within the veterinary pharmacy network, by introducing a new concept with a holistic approach designed to go beyond the mere marketing of medicinal, nutritional and general animal care products. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic during the past year, the development of the Farmavet network has continued as a matter of priority and is a project that is always moving forward. In the near future we will add extra services so that our offer to Farmavet retail customers should exceed their expectations.”
Costin Gheorghiu’s role within Farmavet is to develop and reinvent the retail business within the Romanian veterinary pharmaceutical industry. Focusing primarily on supporting the team in order to maximize its potential, Costin has been involved in expanding the product portfolio, resulting in a much wider scope at the moment for the various animal species and therapeutic indications, as well as a friendly and professional service offered to customers across the country. Moreover, he has implemented an ambitious plan of opening new facilities across the country, so that the company should be as close as possible to cater for livestock farmers’ needs, their households or those who have a pet.
Petra Zaharia is a graduate of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration within the A.I. Cuza University of Iași where, in 2010, she was also awarded the PhD degree in Economics, specializing in International Economic Relations. She began her career in the pharmaceutical industry with Antibiotice SA in 2002, as a Regional Sales Manager, moving up to the position of Export Manager, which she held for her last four years with the company. She later worked as a Business Development Manager for Thinslices Development, and then for Honeywell Authentication Technologies and Honeywell Life Sciences for four years.
“To me, Farmavet is the crowning achievement of my career so far. The business model which it promotes is one in which I very much believe, and, together with the team under my supervision, I want to prove that any business relies primarily on people and that any decisions and actions taken have a crucial contribution to the company’s development. I am ready to face the challenges to follow and to help Farmavet become an internationally renowned company.”
Petra Zaharia’s role within Farmavet is to promote and develop the company’s portfolio abroad, the ultimate goal being that of turning the company from a local Romanian one into one that enjoys genuine international visibility. The activities which she carries out include the identification of new business opportunities and the development of partnerships with the organizations operating in the veterinary field internationally.
